When
doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to
a recovering soldier.
If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards
these wonderful, special people who have sacrificed so much, would get.

This is one of my favorite quotes about what a veteran is. What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of ' up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact.
...I can never thank enough, the people who put on a bulletproof vest to go to work for a living. I feel fortunate to live in this great country of ours and enjoy the freedoms that a lot of people take for granted. So, to the brave men and women of the Sheriff and police departments in our area, who help keep crime and drugs off the streets,...THANK YOU. To the veterans, past, present and future, THANK YOU. Your duty to job and country doesn't go un-noticed by me. Freedom is not free. -Alan

| Blue Star Mothers Support Group- Next meeting is December 11th, in Plainview. The Blue Star Mothers are mothers, from the Plainview area, who now have, or have had, children serving in the military. They are a non-profit service organization supporting each other and their children while promoting patriotism. They would like to invite anyone in the area to attend one on their meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at House of Hope 525 W Broadway, Plainview MN, next to the Community Presbyterian Church. They discuss how best to support our soldiers and their families and continue to send care packages to our soldiers. They stress they are not a political group neither endorsing nor opposing the war or any candidate. All family members are welcome but only mothers can be members. Other family members can become associate members. For further information please contact Linda Hoiland 507-534-0160 email granny6@myclearwave.net |

DVD's For Vets
DVDs4Vets is a
Non-Profit Charity that arranges for the collection and donation of new and
used DVDs for the benefit of military Veterans, many who are unable to obtain
these on their own. All donated DVDs are sent to Vet hospitals, Vet centers,
clinics and State Vet homes.
For more information: www.dvds4vets.org
DVDS4Vets is asking listeners to donate new or used DVDs for the benefit of
military veterans who otherwise cannot easily obtain them on their own.
Started in 2006, DVDs4Vets has been arranging for the donation of DVDs for soldiers
returning with Traumatic Brain Injuries or TBI as well as other serious battle
wounds. With limited entertainment, vets in rehab can use what many of us take
for granted every day.
DVDs4Vets does not solicit or receive financial assistance nor are they politically
affiliated. Their primary goal is to show gratitude to those men and woman who
have proudly served our Country with honor. For donations of 10 or more DVDs,
all donors will be included on the DVDs4Vets Honor Roll.
To donate new or used DVDs or to learn more about this worthy cause, please
go to www.dvds4vets.org (or www.dvdsforvets.org)
For more information, please contact Scott Bowers at (914) 835-3673 or dvds4vets@aol.com

Watch these videos! This is one of the best video's I've seen on the internet. It really says it all about our troops, no matter what you stance on the war is, and it was done by 15 year old Lizzie Palmer. Click HERE to see it.
Here's another video that's making the rounds. It's called, "If I Die Before You Wake". Click HERE to hear the song and the video that goes with it.

What is a Veteran?
Some Veterans bear visible signs of their service... A missing limb, a
scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside
them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg -
or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's ally forged in the
refinery of adversity. Except in parades, however, the men and women
who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a Vet
just by looking. What is a vet? |
